High-Powered Sports Panel Talks Tech at HD Expo New York

HD EXPO (hdexpo.net) has announced an esteemed slate of panelists for "Creating High Powered Sports Programming: Wowing the Audience," set for the September 25th launch of HD EXPO New York. Bryan Burns, ESPN (Vice President, Strategic Business Planning and Development), Mark Haden (VP Of Engineering and IT, MLB Networks), Tim Napoleon (Chief Strategist, Media and Entertainment, for Akamai Technologies), Chris Wagner (Executive Vice President and Co-Founder of NeuLion) and a soon to be announced NFL executive take part in a panel discussion at HD EXPO. "The Audience is Wowed," will be moderated by Sports Video Group (SVG) Lifetime Achievement Winner Larry Thorpe and will focus on the impact of technology on the audience, the teams and the creative process in putting forth outstanding sports programming.
The esteemed panel includes some of the most influential figures in the delivery of sports-related programming. Bryan Burns leads ESPN HD AND ESPN2 HD, and has been an integral part of the creation of the two from planning to execution as well as the launch of a number of ESPN video-related products. Prior to ESPN, he founded a consultancy launched after 16 years of professional sports team management including a stint as Senior Vice President of MLB. Burns is a multiple CableFAX "heavy hitter." Chris Wagner is an expert in the IPTV space, and has been a driving force in the industry for over 20 years. As Executive Vice President and Co-Founder of NeuLion, he is a leader in the revolution which is underway as the television and internet video industries converge. Prior to founding NeuLion, Wagner was Executive Vice President and General Manager of Computer Associates, and CEO of Metiom, MetaMatrix, Exchange Applications and Digital Harbor. Tim Napoleon's Media and Entertainment practice within Akamai provides services to deliver music, movies, video, games, sports and news for business such as iTunes, MV, XM Satellite, CNET and News Corp. Prior to Akamai, he worked closely with Adobe to launch the Flash video streaming service, launched Pacific Life's online web portal which supported billions of dollars in transactions, and provided consulting expertise to a number of high tech and media & entertainment businesses. Mark Haden, serves as Vice President, Engineering and IT at MLB Networks and boasts over 30 years of broad technical expertise and experience working for major networks and companies including ABC, where he was Technical Manager for top shows including "Good Morning America," "World news Tonight," and HBO, where he served as Director of East Coast Production.
The panels of HD EXPO present an expertise driven perspective on important trends and developments in content creation and delivery. "Creating High Powered Sports Programming: Wowing the Audience" set for September 25th, is one part of a full day of exhibition, panels, and education at HD EXPO, which launches the New York event after seven successful years in Los Angeles and Chicago.
