The Tucson Film & Music Festival (TFMF) has announced its final call for entries for the 4th annual festival, to be held Columbus Day weekend (October 10-12) in Tucson, Ariz. The Tucson Film & Music Festival showcases music and music-related shorts, documentaries and features, with a focus on artists with a connection to Arizona and to the Southwest.

The TFMF is currently accepting documentaries, narrative features, shorts, and music videos. Filmmakers from Arizona and the Southwest are particularly encouraged to submit. Michael Toubassi, Festival Director, is pleased to welcome two key returning sponsors in the Tucson Film Office and the Hanson Film Institute.

Peter Catalanotte, Production Coordinator for the Tucson Film Office adds, “The desert dwellers of our fair city love cinema and relish live music, as long as both are delivered with passion, so it’s easy to see why the festival keeps growing.”

Excited about the festival’s continued growth, Catalanotte reflects on the success of last year’s festival, which he attributes to an “impressive roster of films” and “remarkable music.” Last year’s festival featured Arizona, Southwest or World Premieres of more than 20 feature and short films including: Scott Walker: 30 Century Man (David Bowie, Sting, and Radiohead), Sleepwalking Through the Mekong (Dengue Fever), and roller-derby documentary, Hell on Wheels.

Also returning for their second year is the Hanson Film Institute. Operating under the auspice of The University of Arizona, the institute offers educational programs to emerging filmmakers and media entrepreneurs, serving diverse, underrepresented and new voices. Vicky Westover, Program Director of the Hanson Film Institute says, “The Tucson Film & Music Festival keeps getting better and better! It is poised to play a significant role in increasing the cachet of the Tucson film scene.”
