We have updated the website: you can now register and pay fees online and everything you need to know about the festival can be found there, including our contact information in case you have any further questions. Please check out the site!
Again, we are requiring attendance by either the filmmaker or some other representative from the production, e.g., athlete or producer. This will make a huge difference for you, your film and X-dance.
Last year's event was incredible, especially because of the amount of filmmaker's in attendance. Over 200 entries from all over the world were narrowed down to 40 films of outstanding quality. Most of the filmmakers attended X-dance and got really involved, participating in the screenings, workshops, and panels that run throughout the festival. Due to last year's amazing growth, we must move our location to a bigger and better venue to accommodate our growth. Like Sundance, we will be expanding into Salt Lake City as well. There will be a huge announcement made within the next month on our new location and sponsorship partner.
We are officially opening a new "Adventure Films" category this year, (Rock Climbing, Expedition and Exploration films, Base Jumping, etc.) This will increase our visibility to networks like "The Discovery Channel" and the "National Geographic Channel." We feel there is a huge crossover and kinship that makes this category a welcome addition to our lineup.
Attention from the entertainment industry starts at the festival and continues with the "X-dance Monthly Screening Series" in Hollywood. Word has gotten out about this incredible showcase and the screenings were packed with distributors, media and industry VIP's. There was also a strong showing by the X-dance alumni, showing support and a desire to stay actively involved.
We at X-dance truly believe that the filmmakers in action sports are the real, "Indie, cutting-edge filmmakers of all of the film industry!" Just as "Reservoir Dogs" and "Sex, Lies And Video Tape" broke at the Sundance Film Festival into mainstream recognition, we believe there will be a film that will come through X-dance, which will do the same for action sports filmmaking.
At X-dance 2007, "Let It Ride" (Dir: Jacques Russo), a Snowboarding film about Craig Kelly took top honors winning "Best Film" with its emotional storytelling, action, editing, cinematography and music! X-dance was very proud to be chosen as the world premier for this monumental film!
Be a part of X-dance, the greatest International Action Sports Film Festival on the planet!
